Breakthrough is Karolina’s material ode to flying in one’s dream, whereby she explores the deeply meaningful and symbolic desire in the dreamer to free himself from his burden. To the artist, the act of flying signifies that there is enough power within, to break free and break through.

This sculpture is Karolina’s breakthrough experimentation with PLA filament, and the first of what she calls “moving sculptures.” By using PLA filament, the artist is able to transform the solidity of a sculpture into a series of mobile fragments, unified only by being hung together.
